Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This policy explains what personal data CoachDiscover collects, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to athletes and coaches using the platform.

Who we are

CoachDiscover (“we”, “us”) operates a marketplace that connects independent sports coaches with athletes. For personal data you provide to the platform, we are the data controller. Coaches are independent controllers of the personal data they process to deliver their own coaching services. We are established in, and this policy is governed by the laws of, England and Wales (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Data we collect

  • Account — name, email, password (hashed), role, and optional two-factor settings.
  • Profile — athletes: city/postcode, date of birth, preferred sports, avatar. Coaches: bio, qualifications and uploaded documents, media, location and rates.
  • Bookings & payments — sessions booked, amounts, and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe); we store only non-sensitive metadata such as card brand and last four digits.
  • Communications — messages between athletes and coaches, reviews, and support requests.
  • Technical — a session cookie, approximate location derived from any address you search, and basic security/diagnostic logs.

How and why we use it (lawful bases)

  • To provide the service (contract) — accounts, discovery, bookings, payments, and messaging.
  • To keep the platform safe (legitimate interests) — verifying coaches, moderating flagged messages, preventing fraud and abuse.
  • To meet legal obligations — tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests.
  • With your consent — any optional communications, which you can withdraw at any time.

Who we share it with

We share data only as needed to run the service: with the coach or athlete you transact with; with our payment processor (Stripe) to take payments and pay coaches; with infrastructure and email providers acting on our instructions; and with authorities where legally required. We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we erase or anonymise your personal data, except records we must retain for financial and legal reasons (for example, booking and payment records kept in anonymised form for accounting).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and object to or restrict certain processing. You can export everything we hold and delete your account at any time from your Account & privacy settings. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Security

Passwords are hashed, optional two-factor authentication is available, and payment card numbers never touch our servers — they are collected directly by our PCI-compliant payment processor. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

Cookies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and secure. See our Cookie Policy for details.
