1Who we are and what we do

CoachDiscover is a marketplace that connects independent sports coaches with athletes. We provide the tools around a lesson — search, booking, payment, messaging and scheduling — but we do not deliver coaching ourselves.

Coaching is provided solely by the coach you book. CoachDiscover is not a party to that coaching relationship, is not your coach's employer, and does not supervise how a session is run. Coaches are independent and set their own rates, availability and teaching methods.

These terms apply to everyone who uses CoachDiscover. Sections marked for athletes or for coaches apply to you when you are acting in that role; if you both coach and take lessons, both apply.

2Your account

You need an account to book or to coach. You must give accurate details, keep them up to date, and keep your login credentials to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

You must be 18 or over to hold an account. A parent or guardian may book sessions on behalf of someone under 18, and remains responsible for that booking and for the young person's attendance.

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we explain elsewhere in this document what happens to money held at that point.

3Booking a session

For athletes

A booking is confirmed when your payment is taken, not when you send an enquiry. Until then the slot remains available to other athletes.

Coaches publish the slots they are willing to teach, including the price, duration, location and how many athletes can attend. What is shown on a slot at the moment you book is what you are agreeing to.

Some sessions are group sessions with several athletes. The slot shows how many places exist and how many are left before you book.

If a session you want is full you can join its waitlist. If a place frees up, everyone waiting is told at the same time and the place goes to whoever books first — a waitlist place is not a reservation.

4Payments, fees and escrow

Athletes pay in full at the time of booking. Payment is held in escrow and is not released to the coach until the session has taken place, so you are never paying for coaching that has not happened.

The price shown on a slot is set by the coach. On top of it we add a platform service fee, which is shown separately before you pay. The service fee covers running the platform and payment processing.

We also take a commission from the coach's share of the fee. This is deducted from what the coach receives and does not increase what the athlete pays.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. CoachDiscover does not store your card details.

Free intro sessions are limited per coach each calendar month. When a coach has used their allowance for the month, their free intro offer stops being available until the next month begins.

5Session packs

For athletes

A coach may offer a pack: several sessions bought together at a lower price per session than booking them one at a time.

Packs are bought and paid for upfront. Sessions are drawn from the pack as you book them with that coach, and a pack is only valid with the coach who sold it.

A pack may carry an expiry date, which is shown before you buy and on the pack itself in your Wallet. Sessions not used by that date are lost, so check the expiry before buying a large pack.

You can request a refund of a pack's unused sessions from your Wallet. Sessions already taken are not refundable, and the refund is calculated on what is left rather than on what you paid in total — a pack's per-session discount applies to the pack as a whole.

6Account credit

For athletes

Account credit is a balance held on your CoachDiscover account that is applied automatically to your next booking before any card payment is taken.

Credit is issued as compensation — for example when a coach cancels a confirmed session, or when you cancel one yourself far enough ahead to qualify. It is not a cash deposit and cannot be withdrawn or transferred to another account.

Credit does not expire. Its full history, including what issued each amount and what it has been spent on, is shown in your Wallet.

7Cancelling as an athlete

For athletes

You can cancel a confirmed booking from My Bookings at any time before it starts.

Cancel 48 hours or more before the session starts and the coach's session fee is returned to you as account credit, applied to your next booking.

Cancel within 48 hours of the start and the session fee is not returned. The coach held that slot for you and turned other athletes away, and at short notice they cannot fill it.

The platform service fee is not refundable on a cancellation you initiate, at any notice period, because the payment processing it covers has already happened.

If you do not attend a session you booked and did not cancel, it is treated as a cancellation inside the 48-hour window.

8When a coach cancels

If a coach cancels a confirmed booking, the athlete is compensated in full — the session fee and the platform service fee — because nothing about that cancellation is the athlete's doing.

Compensation is issued as account credit, applied automatically to the athlete's next booking. Where a booking was paid partly or wholly from a pack, the session is returned to the pack instead.

Because a coach cancellation triggers that compensation and non-recoverable payment-processing costs, CoachDiscover may apply a cancellation charge to the coach for each affected athlete, recovered from their future payouts.

Charges may be waived at our discretion where a coach gives good-faith notice of a genuine emergency. Sessions cancelled by the athlete never generate a charge to the coach.

9Cancellation strikes and suspension

For coaches

Cancelling confirmed bookings carries strike points, counted over a rolling 90-day window. Cancelling a group session strands several athletes at once and therefore carries more points than cancelling a one-to-one.

Reaching three strike points inside that window may result in your coach profile being paused pending review. Paused profiles cannot be found or booked until the review concludes.

We may also pause or suspend an account that receives serious complaints, fails verification, or otherwise breaches these terms. Where we do, money already held in escrow for sessions you have completed is still paid out.

10Coaching on CoachDiscover

For coaches

You must hold the qualifications, insurance and clearances required to coach your listed sports in your jurisdiction, and you must keep them current for as long as your profile is live.

Every profile is reviewed by our team before it can be found or booked. Identity and qualification documents you submit are reviewed by a person, and the verified badge reflects that review — it is not automatic and it is not granted on request.

Documents must be genuine and yours. Submitting a document belonging to someone else, or one that has been altered, results in permanent removal from the platform.

You agree to deliver sessions as described in your listing, to arrive on time, to keep your published availability accurate, and to tell athletes promptly if anything changes.

You are responsible for your own tax and national insurance on what you earn here. CoachDiscover does not withhold tax and is not your employer.

11Getting paid

For coaches

Payment for a session is held in escrow from the moment the athlete books, and becomes claimable once the session is complete.

You request payment for your completed sessions from your payouts screen. Requests enter a queue and are dispatched by our team to the payout account you have connected.

Your payout is the session fee less our commission, and less any outstanding cancellation charges on your account, which are recovered from payouts before the balance reaches you.

You must have completed payout onboarding, including identity checks required by our payment provider, before any money can be sent to you.

12Conduct and safeguarding

Treat other people on the platform with respect. Harassment, discrimination, threats and abusive messages are not tolerated from anyone, in any direction.

Keep bookings and payments on the platform. Taking a booking off-platform to avoid fees removes the escrow protection the athlete is relying on and the record both sides would need in a dispute, and may result in removal.

Where sessions involve under-18s, coaches must follow our safeguarding requirements and any applicable law on working with young people.

Report anything that concerns you. Messages are monitored for abuse and fraud, and we act on reports.

13Reviews and content

Only an athlete who has completed a paid session with a coach can review that coach. Reviews cannot be bought, traded or posted by anyone who did not attend.

Reviews must be your honest account of the session. We remove reviews that are abusive, contain personal data, or are demonstrably about a session that did not take place.

Coaches may reply once to a review. We do not remove a review simply because the coach disagrees with it.

You keep ownership of the photos, videos and text you upload, and you grant CoachDiscover a licence to display them on the platform and in listings for as long as your profile is live.

14Liability

Coaching carries physical risk. You take part at your own risk and should not attempt activity beyond your fitness or ability. Tell your coach about injuries and conditions relevant to what you are about to do.

Because coaching is delivered by independent coaches, CoachDiscover is not liable for the conduct of a session or for injury arising from it. Your agreement for the coaching itself is with the coach.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law of England and Wales.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

15Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised.

Where a change materially affects your rights we will tell you before it takes effect. Continuing to use CoachDiscover after that point means you accept the revised terms.

A change never applies retrospectively to a booking already confirmed — the terms that applied when you booked govern that booking.

16Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes arising from your use of CoachDiscover are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.

If something goes wrong with a booking, raise it with us first. Many disputes are resolved from the booking itself, and doing so gives us the record needed to put it right.

How CoachDiscover works

CoachDiscover is a booking and payments marketplace connecting athletes with independent sports coaches. Coaching is delivered by the coach, not by CoachDiscover; payments are held in escrow and released once your session is complete.
